Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information ReadyResume.ai collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the website readyresume.ai and the services we offer through it (together, the "Service").

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by ReadyResume.ai LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us", "ReadyResume"). Our business address is available upon request via the contact email below.

2. Geographic scope

The Service is offered to residents of the United States and Canada only. If you access the Service from outside these regions, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws. We do not actively market to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other regions outside North America. If you are an EEA or UK resident and end up using the Service, we will still respect the data-protection principles described in Section 12.

3. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

a. Information you give us

Account info: name, email address, and a hashed password. (Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see your plain-text password.)
Resume content: work history, education, skills, contact information, and any other content you choose to enter or upload as part of building a resume.
Cover letters and ATS analyses: the content you generate using our AI features.
Profile preferences: industry, target role, preferred locations, and, if you opt in, visa status and country of origin (used for our Sponsor Match feature).
LinkedIn URL: if you choose to provide one.
Communications: messages you send to our support team.

b. Information we collect automatically

Device and browser info: browser type, operating system, device identifiers.
IP address: for session security, fraud prevention, and approximate location.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent, referring URLs.
Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 9.

c. Information from third parties

Payment information: if you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) provides us with transaction status, plan tier, and subscription dates. We do not see or store your full card number.
Email engagement: our email provider (Resend) reports whether emails were delivered, opened, or clicked.

4. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including generating resumes, cover letters, and ATS analyses;
Create and manage your account, process payments, and provide customer support;
Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing notices);
Send product updates and marketing communications, where permitted by law and where you have not opted out;
Personalize features such as Sponsor Match based on the preferences you provide;
Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service;
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

5. AI processing of your content

When you use AI features (resume generation, cover letter generation, ATS scoring, AI polish), we send the relevant content (e.g., the resume text you entered, the job description you pasted) to Anthropic, our AI provider, in order to generate output. Anthropic processes the content according to their own privacy practices and data-handling agreements with us. We do not allow your content to be used to train Anthropic's models. After generation, the output is stored in your ReadyResume account.

6. Sharing your information

We share information with the following categories of third parties, and only as needed to operate the Service:

Anthropic — AI model provider, for generating resume and cover letter content.
Stripe — payment processor.
Supabase — database and authentication hosting.
Vercel — application hosting.
Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery.

Each of these providers is contractually bound to use your information only for the purposes we designate. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ReadyResume, our users, or others.

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you and offer choices if material changes to this Privacy Policy result.

7. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations (such as tax records for payment history), resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backup copies may persist for an additional period in our secure backups before they expire.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest where supported by our providers, hashed passwords, access controls, and routine security review. No system is perfectly secure, however. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We may also use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to measure traffic and feature usage. Where required, we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Your rights and choices

Regardless of where you live, you can:

Access, update, or correct your account information through your profile settings;
Delete your account at any time by contacting us;
Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message we send;
Contact us with any privacy question or concern at privacy@readyresume.ai.

11. California residents — CCPA / CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended:

Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share;
Right to access a copy of your personal information;
Right to delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising);
Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a lesser quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@readyresume.ai. We will verify your identity using the email address on file before responding. You may also authorize an agent to submit a request on your behalf.

12. EEA, UK, and other international users

If you are located outside the United States or Canada and use the Service anyway, please note that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We will still honor the basic principles of fair processing, including lawful basis for processing (typically contract performance or legitimate interest), purpose limitation, data minimization, and your right to access, correct, or delete your information. Contact privacy@readyresume.ai to exercise any of these rights.

13. Children

The Service is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@readyresume.ai.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service prior to the change taking effect.
